Motorcycle Mechanic Training Programs
Motorcycle mechanic training is designed to give you real life skills for a real career. Our love affair with motorcycles will never cease, and young people continue to discover the joys of the open road. Motorcycles need servicing and tuning to keep them in tiptop condition. There are many reasons why this makes sense including safety, and safeguarding what can be an expensive investment. Motorcycles come in many shapes and forms, from dirt bikes to racing machines and just plain old workhorses designed to get from A to B without having to walk. Intrinsically, they all work in the same way.
Motorcycle mechanic training may vary in small ways between programs, but usually only for certain makes. You will likely learn about how an engine works and how fuel is fed through and used in the engine to create thrust. You will also learn about other essential systems such as suspension, braking systems, steering, and ignition. Electrics can become very complex, especially in the more expensive end of the range where electronics are used everywhere from onboard diagnostics through lighting systems, and timing. You will likely learn about the basics of servicing a machine as well as diagnosing common problems. You may also learn how to use power assisted tools, and diagnostic equipment. Further, specialist programs are also available in paint effects, customization, and specific brand motorcycles. Useful school subjects to study might include math, technical drawing, physical sciences, and machine shop skills.
